ROSETTA, EAST OF THE WALL AND OTHERS
@ THE BRIGHTON BAR - LONG BRANCH, NJ

7:35pm - Arrived at venue for Rosetta show. Looked empty. Went to shady pharmacy. Bought ear plugs and chocolate pretzel rod. Tasted stale.

7:37 - Outside of venue. Limp Bizkit is playing inside. Nonono :[

7:44 - Two guys outside venue talking about school: "I got kicked out in the 7th grade." "I got kicked out in the 10th."

7:45 - South Jersey makes me sad\amused.

7:46 - Ok Rosetta is here. This is good.

7:49 - Filter is playing now. Things are looking up\worse!

8:09 - Really happy that I brought a book.

8:15 - Tomahawk is playing now!

8:26 - The entire self-tilted album by Tomahawk playing on the PA and a nature show on the Discovery Channel on the TVs. Coolest bar ever.

8:36 - "Autumn is not a time for sharing." - Narrator of the nature show.

9:08 - First band is all older dudes. Sounds like Motorhead's rock and roll songs.

9:11 - Stiffest bassist ever. It's like once they start playing, his feet are stapled to the floor.

9:24 - The ear plugs work very well.

9:28 - Rosetta is up next. If East of the Wall plays after them, I'm leaving early.

10:31 - Bleh. East of the Wall is going to play last. I think I'm gonna head out. Rosetta was worth the ten bucks.

10:52 - Decided to go to the beach since it's like a minute from the bar. Took socks\shoes off, rolled up jeans, they got wet anyhow. Who cares. :)

11:06 - Got to car, took off jeans, about to drive home barefoot\pantsless.

OPEN MIC AND THEN 3 BOOKED BANDS I HAVE NEVER LISTENED TO
PULSEWAVE NYC @ THE TANK
WENT WITH FACUNDO AND MIKE "AWESOME"

6:05 PM - At an 8-bit show in NYC. Met a dude named Alex from Montreal. Real cool guy.

7:16 -
Went to a Mexican place and had a spinach burrito. Yum.

7:19 -
Just heard a Frenchman do an American accent. "My name is Peter, I'm from Austin, Texas. I ride bulls."

7:36 -
Wispy mustaches are the worst.

7:43 -
Rereading book called "Bloods" which is an oral history of the Vietnam war by black vets. Just read "It was like the sun was screaming."

8:56 -
Venue is actually a black box theater with seats. Air conditioning is glorious.

9:09 -
Open mic going on now.

9:11 -
Dude who's playing now is making dark-sounding 8-bit.

9:22 -
Dude from Montreal is playing. Goes by "Battle Lava".

9:31 -
Facundo played "The Office" theme song and dedicated it to Awesome.

9:44 -
There are 3 weaboo ravers here. With pacifiers and really dumb clothes.

9:51 -
First booked band is playing. I feel like I'm in a night club.

10:19 -
First band is called "Larry".

10:25 -
Watching a drunk guy try constantly to make out with\feel-up his girlfriend and her reject him.

10:54 -
2nd act is on. There's a dude doing visuals with a laptop and a Wiimote.

11:49 -
Just saw one of the dudes of "Larry" hit a cab's that was about to hit him mirror with his skateboard and break the mirror.

11:55 -
Why do people wear high heels to dance shows to only take them off?

12:01 AM -
There are a ton of French people here.

12:04 -
Dude on now is rapping in French over 8-bit beats.

1:07 -
All three acts are on stage together dancing.

1:12 -
One of the guys from "Larry" has the word "Fellatio" going down the inside of one pant leg.

1:17 -
Facundo was just lifted up and then dropped on some stairs. He's ok though.

WOE, BUBONIC BEAR AND OTHERS
@ THE CELLAR - PHILADELPHIA, PA

7:35pm - At a basement metal show in Philly. First band is Bubonic Bear. 2-piece sludge. Great stuff.

7:51 -
And how awesome is their name? And they totally fit it. They sound like a bear with the black death coming right at you.

8:04 - Bubonic Bear reminds me of Typhoid Mary.

8:05 - Leprosy Carl?

8:08pm -
There's a picture of Chippy from Tim and Eric in the bathroom!

8:14 -
Two bands aren't here yet. Two hours late.

9:19 -
Other two bands finally got here.

9:26 -
Band on now is named Castavet. Experimental black metal.

9:30 -
They are also a 2-piece. Sounds like Weakling mixed with Tombs.

9:36 -
Uuuuugggghhh the drummer is so gooood.

10:02 -
Evan and I looked at each other and simultaneously pointed. Awesome.

10:51 -
Talked to the drummer of Castavet. Very cool dude.

11:56 -
Woe was great. Shane and Evan both wore sleeveless shirts as a joke since Chris wears one at every show he plays.

11:67 -
The guys in Bubonic Bear are really nice and funny.

Show Tweets - 4/10/09

So, when I go to shows, I usually tweet about my experience there. The crowd, the bands, the whole shebang. I try to be humorous and the other half of We're Friends! seems to think I accomplish that most of the time. He suggested that I post my tweets about the show here on the blog. So why not. The order of tweets goes chronologically from top to bottom.

DIVINITY DESTROYED AND OTHERS
@ THE STONE PONY -ASBURY PARK, NJ

-At the Stone Pony for Divinity Destroyed headlining gig. Missed the first band.

-
Band playing now, "Beyond Visible", sounds like Nickelback trying to be metal.

-
Lead singers playing air guitar on stage: Y/N

-
Lead guitarist has a tribal tattoo! This is the best band ever.

-
Vocalist is wearing a button-down shirt, tie and leather jacket. Bottom of tie is poking out of jacket. Somehow it's both cute and douchy.

-
Talking to Jim, bassist of DD, was difficult because there were two weaboos trying to interrupt as often as they could.

-
Band on now, "Exit She Calls", is pop-punk/indie. Very cute and earnest.

-
Band on now is named Kreagan and gets the most metal name on the bill award.

-
They're like Judas Priest mixed with Megadeth but more hard rock than metal.

-
End of an Era is on now. Just really shitty butt metal with synths.

-
My god, the bassist's neckbeard is like a foot long and has the consistency of the hair on his head.

-
Drummer is wearing a "blood" splattered, sleeveless shirt with an extremely loosened tie.

-
Just heard lyric: "she cuts herself..."

-
And Divinity was great like they always are.

So there you have it. If this sucks or is awesome, email us at: wearefriendspodcast@gmail.com
